Wanted to add a few more thoughts on the advantages of the library using a 'Social Networking' website. I feel that our members and staff alike would benefit from having an online newsletter of sorts to let members know the happenings in the library, links to book clubs (or even run one ourselves, competitions, updates of new policy's, whats going on with the amalgamation of the libraries. It would be a great way of getting feedback from the community as well. Check out how this library uses MySpace for communication with young teenagers http://www.myspace.com/libraryloft. I found this site while browsing through http://www1.curriculum.edu.au/scis/connections/cnetw08/66teens_social_networking.htm a very interesting read on how online social networking facilitates learning in schools and libraries. So much information out there!!!!!! Some examples of libraries using online social networking: http://www.myspace.com/hennepincountylibrary, http://www.myspace.com/utlibraries sorry was unable at this stage to find any Australian Libraries using online social networking.....will keep looking.
To finish the 4th 2 drive lesson.....this is my facebook link http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/profile.php?id=1185562079&ref=name

Social Networking
Very interesting use of social networking is the 'Gaming Learning and Libraries' website http://gaminglearningandlibraries.ning.com/ Not sure if I agree with 'gaming' in libraries though. This website gives clear advantages of the benefits of introducing a 'gaming' day to encourage teenagers into the library. Our library gives plenty of attention to the younger generation getting them involved within the library using, story telling, school holiday craft activities, National story telling day & other various projects. I can see that there is some great ways in getting teenagers to participate in using the library through 'gaming days' or even 'Books to Movie nights'. Check out forum on a library's First Gaming Night......
